Yesterday was Ash Wednesday which begins on the seventh Wednesday before Easter and marks the first day of Lent. From around the seventh century, the Church had a practice of smearing the sign of the cross on the foreheads of Christians as the words are spoken, "Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return." The Christian's Lentern journey, with its climax in Holy Week, Good Friday and Easter, is about participating in the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Ash Wednesday reminds us that we are dust. There is nothing pretty about dust. Yet dust is the material of a beloved creation. We cannot and must not despise this loving work. We are not worth much as a commodity but we are loved, beloved, shaped, molded, caressed and nurtured by the Loving God. Remember you are dust - precious, precious dust.
"Dust you are and to dust you shall return" Ash Wednesday reminds us that we are mortal, and in so doing confronts us with a simple question: We have only one life. How do we want to spend it?
This is why Lent is a period of self-examination and penance. We need to stop and look at our lives - remember what we are made of, remember where we are going - and let go of all those things that don't really matter, all those things that get in the way of loving God, loving others, and being loved by God and by others.
We wish LAI YAN a very Happy Birthday! :D ;21/02 Sorry it's belated..

Hi, this is a note from both the activities comm and the caring comm. The videos of Mrs Ma's , Sindy's and Kitty's testimonies are up. Here are the links:
Love is not just a feeling, or gratitude, but a choice, a commitment. We can choose to love those who seem difficult to love, for God first love us when we don't deserve, and He has put this love in each of our hearts. The book recommended by the library this month is "He Chose The Nail" by Max Lucado. In the book, the author talks about how God shows His love for us in each step He took to the Corss. You will find out what the Cross really means, along with other things like the thorn crown, spit on the face, etc. You will find out why He took all those treatments when He didn't have to, nor did He deserve. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

HELLO brothers& sisters :D
Do you feel storms in your lives right now? Troubles coming your way? Homework up to your neck that you can't finish? Dying from the revision for major examinations like O Levels& A Levels? All deadlines are coming? Not enough money to spend? Your teacher is picking on you? You feel lonely? ...
But, FEAR NOT!
Psalm 91: 1-6 tells us that:
"He who dwells in the shelter of the most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, " He is my refufuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wongs you will find refudge; his faithfulness will be yourshield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. "
God is faithful& just. He is always with us. Like a loving father wrapping us in a coat during cold times. He is our protection, always wrapping us up with love, shielding us from troubles...
